Arkema’s role in the JOSPEL project

As a designer of materials and innovative solutions, Arkema shapes materials and creates new uses that accelerate customer performance in lightweight and design materials, biosourced materials, new energies, water management, solutions for electronics, and the performance and home insulation.

In the JOSPEL project, Arkema is developing a new, lightweight and transparent material for glacing that improves the thermal insulation of the JOSPEL test vehicles. The thermal connectivity of this new glacing – acrylic glass – is several times lower than mineral glass, so the insulation is greatly improved, and Arkema has also added an absorbing dye to avoid heat build-up from the sun inside the vehicle. When driving an electric vehicle, this means that you will feel less heat coming from the sun, and consequently it will reduce the amount of energy needed for cooling  of the vehicle cabin.

In the video below, Sylvain Bourrigaud explains the role of Arkema in the JOSPEL project as well as the glacing solution that is being developed for the test vehicles.
