The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is a non-profit organization and Europe’s largest institute for applied research with over 80 research institutes worldwide (of these 67 in Germany). The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) specifically is Europe’s largest solar energy research institution with approximately 1,400 employees. Fraunhofer ISE is committed to promoting energy supply systems, which are sustainable, economic, safe and socially just. It develops components, materials and processes in the areas of the thermal use of solar energy, solar and efficient buildings, solar cells, electrical power supplies, chemical energy conversion, energy storage and the rational use of energy.
